Website!

My new website is up and running! Please take a minute to check it out: www.newbirthmidwifery.com

I have now ordered business cards, am in the process of making brochures and researching marketing strategies as to how to get my name out there. P.S. These are not the things you learn in midwifery school, so it's a trial and error basis!

I am renting a booth at this event called "Just Between Friends" in Eden Prairie from August 11-14, and would love to see you there! It's a garage sale put together professionally so it is almost like shopping in a department store but getting garage sale prices for gently used (or sometimes new!) items. Their website is www.jbfsale.com This would be a great place to get some great deals on maternity clothes, baby and kids clothes along with having the chance to talk to me about midwifery, home birth and I'm sure other vendors as well about relevant products or services. I will also plan to have a drawing for a pretty great prize (to be determined) if you come and sign up at my booth.

It looks great, and honestly I would love it if my midwife had such a great website put together where I could read about her and her services, etc. Such a great idea! I love it and it makes you stand out!!! Best of luck at the "Just Between Friends" and I'm serious, Jenny, if I was in MN you'd SO be delivering this baby!!! Check out New Birth Midwifery!

New Birth Midwifery is my home birth practice where I strive to help families enjoy and learn many things through their pregnancies, birth and postpartum periods. There are two pieces that tie together to make the name that I would like to share.

As I was asking the Lord for a name for my practice in June of 2010, I felt like He lead me to think of the verse 2 Corinthians 5:17 where it talks about when we accept Christ we become new creations - the old has gone, the new has come!

Part 2 of the name is although midwifery is one of the oldest professions in the book, it has gone through many, many trials and at one point in history almost completely dissapeared. Now, however it is making a comeback as more and more women are realizing that to be heard they need to speak up. So although midwives have been around for a very long time, the newness in birth comes from women realizing there is a "new" way to give birth - a gentler, more women centered way. One where they don't need to fight for their rights for a natural, baby friendly delivery, one where they can know the one caring for them during their pregnancy will be the one to care for them during the very intimate time of giving birth.
