Belly Cast - from start to finish

Some of you know that I had an art project due that had to do with midwifery and I made a belly cast. I thought I would post a few pictures to show you the process from start to finish just because it is so fun. Enjoy...

What did you use for the footprints? I LOVE this idea!

I took footprints of all the babies that I caught and just decided to it for this as well. I just used a regular ink pad for the footprints and then wrote the info in pencil and then traced over it with a permanent marker and put a clear sealant over it to preserve it.

Awesome. Did you smooth out any ridges from the mold? Or just put the prints on as it was and clear seal it? My baby girl is due any day and I'm painting my mold a solid color in preparation for adding her footprints. Just curious if I should try to do a little sanding to smooth it out or leave it as is?

D.M. Ellis - I don't know if you will check back for an answer but I couldn't figure out how to answer your question another way - so here goes.

I did lightly sand the whole cast to remove rough edges, but it didn't take much. Then use a really black ink pad to put the prints on. Don't use paint - it's too slippery and will smear.

Good luck with everything! May you be blessed as you add another little one to your family.
